Welcome to the center
Mission: To promote the health and well-being of mind, body and spirit via awareness of the physical language of sensation.
What is Mind/Body Integration? For many years, I have been investigating a fuller understanding of self through sensation in the body. With long experience as a licensed clinical social worker and licensed massage therapist, I merge these fields together into a unique holistic therapeutic practice serving both mind and body.
You may be experiencing chronic discomfort. You may have tried massage, acupuncture, Rolfing, physical therapy, biofeedback, stress reduction, and psychotherapy but still find you are in pain. Often this runs so deep that actual contact with the source of pain cannot be made. Craniosacral therapy offers a window into the central nervous system and an opportunity to get at the heart of your pain. The central nervous system is the communication system in touch with every other system in your body.
It is with this powerfully gentle technique that we are able to touch the history of the mind as it manifests as physical sensation in the body. This is what mind/body integration is all about.
The body retains and holds on to every life experience, however seemingly insignificant.
Those we choose to forget never fully disappear; the body retains. We can access physical, mental, and emotional history through this work.
How many times have we moved, left a relationship, and changed jobs? Did you ever consider what was driving you to repeat certain behaviors over and over? The body may be able to reveal the answer.
My early intensive training in professional dance, as a dance therapist and yoga instructor, and as a psychotherapist all informs this groundbreaking work. When an experienced practitioner makes contact with you, it can create sensations which feed information to the mind via the central nervous system.
These sensations can form shapes, colors, even images. The mind captures and interprets all this, giving you an opportunity to feel exactly how your body has retained your life history.
Often the process offers you new meaning about a painful life experience. Consciousness offers us a new peace with our physical body and with our past. Aches and pains are transformed. Depression may lift. Anger can be resolved. Early traumas transformed into lessons for consciousness.
